Kisoro's landscape is extraordinary — a dramatic patchwork of terraced hillsides, deep valleys, crater lakes, and volcanic peaks that rises to over 4,000 metres at the summit of Mount Muhabura. Quad biking is one of the most exciting ways to explore this landscape, taking you along tracks and ridges that offer panoramic views in every direction.
Routes wind through local farming communities, past the shores of Lake Mutanda, along the edges of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, and up to viewpoints where the full sweep of the Virunga Massif — Muhabura, Sabyinyo, Gahinga, and the distant peaks of Rwanda and the DRC — is laid out before you.
Quad bikes are suitable for riders of all experience levels — a brief safety briefing and practice session is included before you set off, and guides lead the route at a pace that suits the group. Routes range from gentle 1-hour rides through the farmland around Kisoro town to more challenging 3-hour adventures on the volcanic ridges above the park.
It's a perfect activity for an afternoon after gorilla trekking, or as a standalone half-day experience for those who want to see the landscape from a different perspective.
