About Akagera & Apes — Expert Safari Guides Based in Kigali, Rwanda

Who We Are

A Safari Company Built on Passion

Akagera & Apes was born in 2008 from a simple but powerful belief: that the most profound travel experiences come from genuine connection — with wildlife, with local communities, and with the land itself.

Founded by Emmanuel Nkurunziza and Amara Osei, two East Africans who grew up alongside the continent's most extraordinary wildlife, we set out to create safaris that go beyond the ordinary.

Today, we operate across Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Congo — always with the same guiding principles: small groups, expert local guides, handpicked luxury camps, and an unwavering commitment to conservation.
