Tour Overview
This 4-Day Gorillas, Wildlife & Chimpanzee Trekking safari combines two of Uganda's most thrilling wildlife encounters in a single, perfectly paced itinerary. You'll track habituated chimpanzees through the ancient mahogany forest of Kalinzu Forest Reserve — one of Uganda's least-visited yet most rewarding primate destinations — and search for the legendary tree-climbing lions of Ishasha, all within the spectacular Rift Valley setting of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Kalinzu Forest Reserve is home to over 300 habituated chimpanzees and five other primate species, yet sees a fraction of the visitor numbers of Kibale Forest. This means a more intimate, unhurried trekking experience — just you, your ranger, and the forest. The Kazinga Channel boat safari adds a completely different dimension: a two-hour glide past the highest concentration of hippos in Africa, Nile crocodiles, and a staggering diversity of waterbirds.
Ishasha's tree-climbing lions are found nowhere else in East Africa. Watching a pride draped across the branches of a giant fig tree against the backdrop of the Rift Valley escarpment is one of Uganda's most extraordinary wildlife moments — and a fitting centrepiece for this four-day adventure.
