Itinerary

Transfer to Akagera National Park; afternoon game drive; evening birding walk.

Depart Kigali for the 2.5-hour drive east to Akagera National Park, Rwanda's only savanna park and one of Africa's finest birding destinations. Check in to your lodge and head straight out for an afternoon game drive through the acacia woodlands and papyrus swamps. As the sun dips, join a guided evening birding walk along the lake shores — prime time for herons, kingfishers, and the elusive African Finfoot.
